To change the password for you need to simply login using the administrator account. Go to the control panel -> user accounts, there you can change or create a password for any account. To change the password, you have to specify the old and the new password in the appropriate boxes.

After setting a password, you can make your folders private, so that no other user can see your private information even if they login into the same computer. Passwords are always meant for ensuring security and you should never miss setting a windows password if you have private information to be kept secured.
