The unfortunate thing about weight loss treatments is that there is no exact science to weight loss. After all this time, all these years of research and experimentation and still no end-all solution is available. It’s a shame but that is reality.
So what do you do when you know you need to lose weight and you don’t know where to begin?
“I’ve Tried Everything. Nothing works.” Sound familiar?
What does a person do if they feel they have tried everything to lose weight and get in shape, from taking vitamins and weight loss pills, to reducing fat, carbohydrates and sodium in the diet, maybe even increasing water intake? What do you do if you try everything and still barely see the major changes in your weight and health that you have been dreaming of?
The answer is to see a doctor, particularly a weight loss specialist. These professionals have spent decades of their own lives studying and understanding the human body and weight loss treatments in particular. A weight loss specialist will be able to give you advice about some serious treatments that you can try and how much they will cost.
Specific Weight Loss Solutions
Just because you use common sense and have been eating more sensibly does not mean that you are 100% healthy. You need to balance things in your diet and cater to your unique body’s specific needs. That means seeing a specialist who can run tests and determine what deficiencies there might be so that you can make sure your body gets all the nutrition that it needs. This way you will not only look great and feel great, but you will live a longer and more enjoyable life.
Aside from determining certain nutritional issues that might need addressing, you may also need a more serious treatment. For example, let’s say you do end up losing the weight, but you have a lot to lose. A lot of loose skin can result. What do you do with that loose skin and stretch marks? Do you just let it hang there and hope it will go away?
The first thing to do about loose skin after weight loss, you may want to consider certain types of surgery to help return your body to a thin and shapely condition. If you can exercise, try that first (you may not need surgery after all, and you’ll avoid the risks and scarring associated with a major medical procedure).
What if you can’t lose the weight through diet and exercise, and you need a more extreme solution to shed the pounds in the first place? This may call for certain surgeries such as barbaric treatments or gastric bypass. Again, the first thing to do is to see a weight loss specialist (NOT a surgeon who will be biased) and see if that treatment is right or healthy for you.
Aside from seeing a specialist, check with your regular doctor before committing to ANY weight loss treatment! This should be automatic for ANYTHING health related. If you do not have a regular doctor, see two doctors and get a second or third opinion before beginning a serious health treatment.
The importance of having a dedicated family doctor is that he or she will learn your medical history and follow you through the years. This gives your doctor a deep understanding of your medical history and situation that you will not find in a sudden visit to any specialist or surgeon.
Never leave behind common sense and always talk things over with a wise family member or very close friend.
